Intimate and relaxed are the words that come to mind when trying to describe Matthew and Yvonne's Hotel DeBrett wedding. The day started with both of them getting ready at the hotel in central Auckland. When I got to the wedding venue, Matthew was arranging the ceremony space, trying to make sure everything important fit into the small room that was due to house all of their guests during the ceremony. It all worked out well in the end, including making room for a livestream set-up and a tripod for our film camera. After the morning preparations, it seemed like there was plenty of time for everything due to all the formalities taking place in the hotel.
Matthew and Yvonne wanted to spend as much time with their guests as possible, so we headed out to the streets for our Auckland city photo session before their guests started arriving. The surrounding character buildings not only offered shelter from the harsh sun but also added different beautiful textures to the wedding photos. I'm quite obsessed with old buildings!
After the portrait shoot, we headed back to the hotel to wait for the guests to arrive. The wedding ceremony took place in the afternoon and felt extra intimate due to the small space bringing the family and friends close together. When the ceremony was over, everyone scattered around the hotel in different comfortable nooks to enjoy some drinks, canapés and good company – the atmosphere cozy and informal. For the dinner, everyone gathered in a private dining room near the hotel restaurant. The whole hotel is filled with interesting, colourful features and the dining room was no exception. As a venue, Hotel DeBrett provided a unique, delightful wedding space for this gorgeous Auckland city wedding. It was such a pleasure to be the Auckland city wedding photographer for the beautiful wedding of these two!
